Dermal Fillers

How Does It Work?

The most popular family of dermal filler worldwide is the Juvéderm® collection and they may offer some benefits for you. These dermal fillers uses hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally depletes during age, to lessen fine lines and wrinkles. Allergan uses a proprietary filler technology called Vycross® that creates linkages between the hyaluronic acid molecules which yields a very smooth and long lasting product.

As you age, your skin loses collagen, which cause wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm as an injectable clear gel replaces this lost collagen. It may give you instant volume and smoother skin. Many patients can experience a new appearance with a Juvéderm treatment.

Types

Ultra Plus™
Juvéderm is typically used to help with those little vertical lip lines, marionette lines, chin wrinkles and nasolabial folds or "parentheses". Patients desiring to treat any of these areas may be candidates. Both men and women may opt for treatment. Results typically last up to a year. Experience a smooth, natural look and feel that lasts.

Voluma™
Only filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift, helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile, for up to 2 years. It is different than Juvéderm and works on a different area of the face. The Ultra Plus smoothes out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. Voluma, however, adds volume to the cheek area.

Treatment

Before
To better understand your overall health, we will evaluate your medical history prior to the procedure. All issues and concerns will be discussed at this time as well as discussing treatment goals and finalizing a customized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

The areas that will be treated are marked and digital photographs are taken in order to determine the amount of improvement after the procedure.
Procedure
Your doctor will choose to numb the area with an anesthetic cream or injections depending on the location. Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. Your doctor will administer the filler to your problem areas to achieve the level of correction that is asthetically pleasing.

Approximately 30-45 minutes for the entire treatment.
Recovery
No downtime is needed – you’re ready to get on with your day!

Your physician will give you specific aftercare instructions. Side effects associated with the injection include localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising.
